{"id":1024,"date":"2010-07-04T20:01:08","date_gmt":"2010-07-04T10:01:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelwyres.com\/?p=1024"},"modified":"2010-07-04T20:01:08","modified_gmt":"2010-07-04T10:01:08","slug":"why-is-paul-morris-called-dude","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelwyres.com.au\/mwdc\/2010\/07\/why-is-paul-morris-called-dude\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Is Paul Morris Called &#8220;Dude&#8221;?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In my continuing efforts to restore and digitise as much Bathurst 500\/1000 footage that I can get my hands onto, I have been working lately on footage from the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1991_Tooheys_1000\">1991 Tooheys 1000<\/a>, won by Jim Richards and Mark Skaife in a Nissan GT-R.  <\/p>\n<p>Going through my old tapes, when I reached the presentation ceremony at the end of the race, I rediscovered the footage that reveals why <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paul_Morris_(motorsport)\">Paul Morris<\/a> is called &#8220;Dude&#8221;.  He (in yellow) and Geoff Full (in white) won the 1600cc and Under class that day, and were duly presented on the podium as such.  Here is their &#8220;effort&#8221; on the podium with Channel Seven&#8217;s Garry Wilkinson:<\/p>\n<p><center>\n<table border=\"1\" width=\"450\" cellpadding=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\">\n  <tr>\n    <td align=\"center\" width=\"450\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"450\" height=\"290\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Vg4FnBtx2qA\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/td>\n  <\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<\/center>\n<\/p>\n<p>I remember when watching it live on the day &#8211; when Morris in particular was largely unknown &#8211; that these two were obviously excited for their result, but also that they were a tad on the &#8220;odd&#8221; side.
