{"id":2771,"date":"2011-04-05T08:51:59","date_gmt":"2011-04-04T22:51:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelwyres.com\/?p=2771"},"modified":"2011-04-05T08:51:59","modified_gmt":"2011-04-04T22:51:59","slug":"alexander-downer-bitch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelwyres.com.au\/mwdc\/2011\/04\/alexander-downer-bitch\/","title":{"rendered":"Alexander Downer: Bitch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In what many are seeing as <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theaustralian.com.au\/news\/world\/downer-slammed-over-slur-on-newcastle\/story-e6frg6so-1226033621865\">an extraordinary spray against regional Australia<\/a>, former Liberal opposition leader and Foreign Minister <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alexander_Downer\">Alexander Downer<\/a> has stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;If SA Cricket Association members vote down the Adelaide Oval redevelopment project then it will consign our city to mediocrity and provincialism worthy of Geelong or Newcastle.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Not to be outdone, Geelong&#8217;s local newspaper <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.geelongadvertiser.com.au\/\">The Advertiser<\/a> has come out suggesting that he not be &#8220;so bitchy&#8221;, especially towards a city he has lived in, after spending time as a boarder at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Geelong_Grammar_School\">Geelong Grammar School<\/a>.
