{"id":3248,"date":"2011-06-23T20:22:00","date_gmt":"2011-06-23T10:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelwyres.com\/?p=3248"},"modified":"2011-06-23T20:22:00","modified_gmt":"2011-06-23T10:22:00","slug":"the-nbn-deal-what-just-got-signed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelwyres.com.au\/mwdc\/2011\/06\/the-nbn-deal-what-just-got-signed\/","title":{"rendered":"The NBN Deal &#8211; What Just Got Signed?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Obviously one of the hottest topics today has been the announcement of <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/stories\/2011\/06\/23\/3251290.htm\">binding agreement between Telstra and NBN Co<\/a> for the former&#8217;s participation in the forthcoming National Broadband Network.<\/p>\n<p><center>\n<table border=\"1\" width=\"450\" cellpadding=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\">\n  <tr>\n    <td align=\"center\" width=\"450\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"450\" height=\"290\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/v2_Cxlp_Lns\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/td>\n  <\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<\/center>\n<\/p>\n<p>There was also <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.asx.com.au\/asxpdf\/20110623\/pdf\/41zcmz14gchpyd.pdf\">a similar agreement announced<\/a> between <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.optus.com.au\/\">Optus<\/a> and NBN Co.<\/p>\n<p>But what <i>actually<\/i> got signed?<\/p>\n<p>In actual fact, it is a series of &#8220;eight separate but interdependent documents&#8221;, signed by at least two of NBN Co, Telstra, and the government, enabling the network to be constructed in a more timely and effective manner, and eliminating unnecessary expenditure on infrastructure that already exists as a Telstra asset.<\/p>\n<p>From the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/asx.com.au\/asxpdf\/20110623\/pdf\/41zclc1lvjs25r.pdf\">Telstra release to the ASX<\/a>, the deals signed between NBN Co and Telstra are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><i><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/michaelwyres.com\/2011\/06\/nbn-implementation-and-interpretation-deed\/\">Implementation and Interpretation Deed (IID)<\/a><\/i><\/li>\n<li><i><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/michaelwyres.com\/2011\/06\/nbn-subscriber-agreement\/\">Subscriber Agreement (SA)<\/a><\/i><\/li>\n<li><i><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/michaelwyres.com\/2011\/06\/nbn-infrastructure-services-agreement\/\">Infrastructure Services Agreement (ISA)<\/a><\/i><\/li>\n<li><i><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/michaelwyres.com\/2011\/06\/nbn-access-deed\/\">Access Deed (AD)<\/a><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Between Telstra and the government, the signed deals are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><i><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/michaelwyres.com\/2011\/07\/nbn-tusma-agreement\/\">TUSMA Agreement (TA)<\/a><\/i><\/li>\n<li><i><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/michaelwyres.com\/2011\/07\/nbn-the-rfd-and-the-icmd-agreements\/\">Retraining Funding Deed (RFD)<\/a><\/i><\/li>\n<li><i><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/michaelwyres.com\/2011\/07\/nbn-the-rfd-and-the-icmd-agreements\/\">Information Campaign and Migration Deed (ICMD)<\/a><\/i><\/li>\n<li><i><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/michaelwyres.com\/2011\/07\/nbn-commonwealth-guarantee\/\">Commonwealth Guarantee (CG)<\/a><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Over the next few days, I&#8217;ll be taking the summaries of each agreement as released today, and discussing the most interesting and\/or important aspects of them, based on what we know so far.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll start right now with the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/michaelwyres.com\/2011\/06\/nbn-implementation-and-interpretation-deed\/\">Implementation and Interpretation Deed (IID)<\/a> &#8211; and I&#8217;ll update this page with links over time as I release more articles on the other agreements.<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy the read!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Obviously one of the hottest topics today has been the announcement of binding agreement between Telstra and NBN Co for the former&#8217;s participation in the forthcoming National Broadband Network.
