Always happy, always smiling.<\/p>\n<p>He might only have won a single race in his <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.v8supercars.com.au\/\">V8 Supercar<\/a> career &#8211; (at Winton in 2006) &#8211; but we loved him because he was always having a red hot go, no matter where he was in the field.<\/p>\n<p>One of his most memorable charges was at the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2003_Betta_Electrical_Sandown_500\">2003 Sandown 500<\/a>, where he made a lunge at leader <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mark_Skaife\">Mark Skaife<\/a> on the penultimate lap.<\/p>\n<p><center>\n<table border=\"1\" width=\"450\" cellpadding=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\">\n  <tr>\n    <td align=\"center\" width=\"450\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"450\" height=\"290\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wNl1-1wwvsU\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/td>\n  <\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<\/center>\n<\/p>\n<p>He didn&#8217;t get the pass done, but he showed his passion for what he was doing over the radio after it became clear the car wouldn&#8217;t get out of the sand.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the passion we loved in Jason Richards.<\/p>\n<p>And why we&#8217;ll miss him.<\/p>\n<p>RIP Jase.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The passing of Jason Richards on Thursday evening leaves a huge hole in the hearts of Australian racing fans.
