{"id":4569,"date":"2011-12-30T23:44:12","date_gmt":"2011-12-30T12:44:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelwyres.com\/?p=4569"},"modified":"2011-12-30T23:44:12","modified_gmt":"2011-12-30T12:44:12","slug":"facebook-ads-does-anyone-check-them","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelwyres.com.au\/mwdc\/2011\/12\/facebook-ads-does-anyone-check-them\/","title":{"rendered":"Facebook Ads: Does Anyone Check Them?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Like most people, I&#8217;ve always felt that many of the adverts alongside profiles in <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/\">Facebook<\/a> are undoubtedly dodgy.<\/p>\n<p>Take these couple of &#8220;iPhone&#8221; ads I&#8217;ve noticed this week:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The first one boldly proclaims an &#8220;iPhone 4S&#8221; for only $8.45?  Even if the price was correct &#8211; (lets be honest, it sounds like crap to me) &#8211; that&#8217;s clearly not an iPhone 4S.  It looks suspiciously like a first generation iPhone.  Misleading ad number one.<\/p>\n<p>The second ad is also touting an iPhone 4S &#8211; (this time for $51.12) &#8211; but it is clearly an iPhone 3G or 3GS displayed.<\/p>\n<p>And it&#8217;s red!<\/p>\n<p>Red iPhones?  Misleading ad number two.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook should be taking responsibility for the advertising that is shown as part of their site experience &#8211; (they&#8217;ve had enough bad publicity for various privacy screw ups throughout its existence) &#8211; so someone should be checking them out before they go live.<\/p>\n<p>Seriously, these ads just seem too dodgy to me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Like most people, I&#8217;ve always felt that many of the adverts alongside profiles in Facebook are undoubtedly dodgy.
