Yeah, me neither.<\/p>\n<p><center>\n<table border=\"0\" width=\"80%\" cellpadding\t=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\">\n  <tr>\n    <td class=\"linkbox\"><a class=\"linkboxtext\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.premier.vic.gov.au\/media-centre\/media-releases\/3892-new-contract-moves-regional-rail-link-into-high-gear.html\">New Contract Moves Regional Rail Link Into High Gear<\/td>\n  <\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<\/center>\n<\/p>\n<p>Amongst the &#8220;features&#8221; of the <i>new<\/i> contract, we have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Major bridge modifications at Dynon Road, Moonee Ponds Creek, Lloyd Street and Dudley Street.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A new twin track rail bridge over Dudley Street in West Melbourne.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Looking at existing information, the &#8220;new twin track rail bridge over Dudley Street&#8221; is apparently <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.regionalraillink.vic.gov.au\/construction\/southern-cross-station\">already apart of an earlier contract<\/a>, awarded to Activate, a joint venture between John Holland and Coleman Rail.<\/p>\n<p>This will probably &#8211; (or not) &#8211; come as a shock to the new contract awardees, a consortium consisting of John Holland, Abigroup, Coleman Rail, AECOM &#038; GHD, who will be surprised to see the new bridge over Dudley street almost completed.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the new bridge under construction on January 17th 2012:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The work to modify the bridge at Dynon Road has also been underway for some time.<\/p>\n<p>But people won&#8217;t notice this embellishment, will they?<\/p>\n<p>More smoke and mirrors from Mr Mulder?  Who&#8217;da thought?<\/p>\n<p>Of course the previous State Government used to do this kind of thing too, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/michaelwyres.com\/2010\/11\/new-geelong-hospital-announced-again\/\">announcing a new hospital for Geelong, twice<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Message to the politicians &#8211; the internet never forgets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Who would have thought a government might pad-out an announcement to provide more bang for the buck with the press release?
