Most people have an opinion on them.<\/p>\n<p>Having worked in a couple of different law firms throughout my IT career, I can say hand on heart that almost all of the lawyers I have known are genuinely decent, respectful, professional people.  <\/p>\n<p>But there&#8217;s been a handful who perpetuate the notion of the stereotypical lawyer.<\/p>\n<p>Most fastidiously research their case load to give themselves the best possible chance of a satisfactory result in the courtroom.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently not these ones.<\/p>\n<p><center>\n<table border=\"0\" width=\"80%\" cellpadding\t=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\">\n  <tr>\n    <td class=\"linkbox\"><a class=\"linkboxtext\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theaustralian.com.au\/news\/serial-killer-peter-dupas-fights-for-tv-ban-of-series-killing-time\/story-e6frg6n6-1226496620120\">Serial Killer Fights For TV Ban of Series Killing Time<\/td>\n  <\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<\/center>\n<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;&#8221;The convicted murderer claims key scenes that relate to the Mersina Halvagis murder case would be a contempt of court if his taxpayer-funded second appeal against the conviction is successful and a retrial is ordered.&#8221;&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;&#8221;The broadcasting of relevant episodes &#8230; would constitute a contempt of court,&#8221; documents lodged with the Supreme Court claim.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;&#8221;It would be necessary for a Prohibition Order to ensure a fair trial for the accused in relation to this charge.&#8221;&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The series in question, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Killing_Time_(TV_series)\">Killing Time<\/a>, was actually produced a couple of years ago, and was shown <i>in its entirety<\/i> on the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.foxtel.com.au\/\">Foxtel<\/a> platform between November 2011 and January 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Yet they want they feel the &#8220;broadcasting of relevant episodes would constitute a contempt of court.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Guess what folks?  Horse has bolted.  It&#8217;s already out there.  It&#8217;s even <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sanity.com.au\/products\/2213498\/Killing_Time\">available on DVD<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Given this case is based in Victoria, lets look at how many people in Melbourne watched the show.<\/p>\n<p>According to the ratings figures only <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tvtonight.com.au\/2012\/10\/sunday-7-october-2012.html\">196,000 people watched the first episode in Melbourne<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>More people watched the Big Brother Eviction show.<\/p>\n<p>So, the series has already been shown in full in Victoria on Foxtel, and relatively speaking, nobody in Melbourne watched the show on Channel Seven.  It already <i>has<\/i> been broadcast.<\/p>\n<p>And you can buy it on DVD.<\/p>\n<p>Too late.<\/p>\n<p>Pointless action, or attempt to get publicity?<\/p>\n<p>Probably both.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ahh, lawyers.
