{"id":8206,"date":"2013-05-01T09:23:37","date_gmt":"2013-04-30T23:23:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelwyres.com\/?p=8206"},"modified":"2013-05-01T09:23:37","modified_gmt":"2013-04-30T23:23:37","slug":"kurt-busch-drives-v8-supercar-at-austin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelwyres.com.au\/mwdc\/2013\/05\/kurt-busch-drives-v8-supercar-at-austin\/","title":{"rendered":"Kurt Busch Drives V8 Supercar At Austin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kurtbusch.com\/\">Kurt Busch<\/a> was given the opportunity to drive a prototype V8 Supercar at the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.circuitoftheamericas.com\/\">Circuit of the Americas<\/a>, as a promotional event for the upcoming Austin 400, the first <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.v8supercars.com.au\/\">V8 Supercars<\/a> event held in North America.<\/p>\n<p>Video of his drive has now emerged:<\/p>\n<p><center>\n<table border=\"1\" width=\"450\" cellpadding=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\">\n  <tr>\n    <td align=\"center\" width=\"450\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"450\" height=\"290\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6jO10anTfrw\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/td>\n  <\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<\/center>\n<\/p>\n<p>Apart from apparently being in the wrong gear a few times due to being unfamiliar with the car &#8211; (right hand drive, left hand sequential gear change) &#8211; and learning the circuit, Busch seemed to do a pretty good job handling the completely new environment.<\/p>\n<p>Not bad.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, Busch isn&#8217;t the only NASCAR driver to have a fling in a V8 Supercar, with <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/michaelwyres.com\/2011\/11\/nascar-drivers-in-v8-supercars\/\">Dale Earnhardt Jr having a go<\/a> in a previous generation car some years ago at an off-season test session with <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paul_Morris_Motorsport\">Paul Morris Motorsport<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.marcosambrose.com\/\">Marcos Ambrose<\/a> came from the V8 Supercars series to NASCAR.<\/p>\n<p>Will we see a NASCAR star have a race one day?<\/p>\n<p>Given the intense racing schedule of the NASCAR season, it would be difficult to organise a weekend where NASCAR isn&#8217;t racing that matches a V8 Supercars event, but it would be an exciting prospect.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, Kurt Busch was given the opportunity to drive a prototype V8 Supercar at the Circuit of the Americas, as a promotional event for the upcoming Austin 400, the first V8 Supercars event held in North America.
