Despite the fact that I have predominantly voted on the Liberal side of the ledger in my adult life, these days I find myself very much in the &#8216;centre&#8217; in terms of my political ideology.<\/p>\n<p>Last night I posted about <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/michaelwyres.com\/2013\/08\/why-hide-behind-an-anonymous-envelope\/\">Liberal campaign material hiding its origins<\/a> &#8211; a practice I find dishonest, and I&#8217;m sure all sides of politics do it.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s another I just found in an online election advert:<\/p>\n<p><center>\n<table border=\"1\" width=\"450\" cellpadding=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\">\n  <tr>\n    <td align=\"center\" width=\"450\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"450\" height=\"290\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5YBOvmmpdrc\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/td>\n  <\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<\/center>\n<\/p>\n<p>A bunch of claims &#8211; (which may or may not be true) &#8211; but no clear marking of which side of politics is making the claim.<\/p>\n<p>At least &#8220;Damian Mantach&#8221; has put his name on it &#8211; (as would be legally required of him) &#8211; as the authoriser of the message.<\/p>\n<p>Who is he?<\/p>\n<p>He is the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/vic.liberal.org.au\/AboutUs\/StateDirectors.aspx\">state director of the Liberal Party in Victoria<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>All the &#8216;positive&#8217; LNP advertising seems to have the LNP logos plastered all over it.  The &#8216;negative&#8217; stuff has its origins blurred.<\/p>\n<p>If your policies and positions are the &#8216;shiznit&#8217; &#8211; why hide?<\/p>\n<p>As I said earlier, I&#8217;m sure both sides do it &#8211; so how about some campaign reform to get rid of this dishonest practice?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I don&#8217;t identify myself as either a Liberal supporter, or a Labor supporter.
