While there is no doubt that they <b>have<\/b> resigned, the mechanics of the situation don&#8217;t completely add up.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><center>\n<table border=\"0\" width=\"80%\" cellpadding\t=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\">\n  <tr>\n    <td class=\"linkbox\"><a class=\"linkboxtext\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2013-09-23\/nbn-co-board-offers-to-resign\/4973922\">All But One NBN Co Board Member Hand In Resignations<\/td>\n  <\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<\/center>\n<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Chairwoman Siobhan McKenna tendered her resignation along with other board members, but at this stage the Government has not accepted them.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><center>\n<table border=\"0\" width=\"80%\" cellpadding\t=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\">\n  <tr>\n    <td class=\"linkbox\"><a class=\"linkboxtext\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/2013\/sep\/24\/malcolm-turnbull-asked-nbn-resign\">Malcolm Turnbull Asked NBN Co Board Members To Resign<\/td>\n  <\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<\/center>\n<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Malcolm Turnbull has confirmed that he asked members of the NBN Co board, the government-owned company responsible for operating Australia&#8217;s broadband network, to resign last week.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If the media reports are to be believed &#8211; (and granted, that&#8217;s an assumption) &#8211; the new government <b>asked<\/b> the board to resign, but the new government has not yet <b>accepted<\/b> the resignations?<\/p>\n<p>Who insists on someone resigning, and then refuses to accept the resignation?<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s like ordering the bottle of Bollinger, getting the waiter to open it, and then refusing to have a drink.<\/p>\n<p>Or &#8220;thanks for that everyone, I have your signed resignations, but I&#8217;m going to sit here with a gun to your head and not accept them&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, there is every chance that one or both of the media reports are wrong, but it is curious that until today, Turnbull&#8217;s office has refused to comment on the matter, when it is apparent the machinations have been underway since at least last week.<\/p>\n<p>This doesn&#8217;t gel with Turnbull&#8217;s promise to be transparent and open with the NBN project.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s curious that all this should happen, just when Telstra announces it has <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/delimiter.com.au\/2013\/09\/23\/telstra-starts-vdsl-vectoring-fttn-trial\/\">begun an FTTN trial<\/a>, practically straight after the new government was sworn in, and on the back of Turnbull&#8217;s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/worldtoday\/content\/2013\/s3845194.htm\">apparent backing of former Telstra boss Ziggy Switkowski to take over at NBN Co<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It has been speculated for some time that <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/has-turnbull-already-negotiated-fttn-nbn-concessions-with-telstra-7000014969\/\">Turnbull was already talking to Telstra<\/a>, long before the election.<\/p>\n<p>It all feels just a little bit too convenient and coincidental to me.
