Another one from the archives, with Australian racing legend Larry Perkins winning the 1993 Tooheys 1000, along with the late, Gregg Hansford.
As a Perkins fan, it was a great weekend for me – the #11 Castrol Commodore was the fastest car in almost every practice and qualifying session, took pole position in the shootout, and was at or near the front for the entire 1000 kilometres.
It was also great to see Gregg Hansford, who’d got so close to winning a number of times, finally win the big race. Gregg passed away in a racing accident 18 months later.
