In the history of television in Melbourne, the address “22 Bendigo Street, Richmond, 3121”, is famous. It has been the location of GTV9 since it started in 1956. But now, after 51 years, the era is drawing to a close.

The studios where famous shows like “In Melbourne Tonight”, “Hey, Hey, It’s Saturday”, “Sale of the Century”, and many others will be sold, along with TCN9’s studios in Sydney, as the network moves to modern digital facilities.
Progress is progress I guess, but it’s a shame that the famous old sauce factory will no longer be a part of Australia’s television scene.
