Bathurst is Finally Here!

The annual wait is over – with yesterday’s (Thursday) commencement of practice and qualifying for this year’s Bathurst 1000. These two cars are, however, unlikely to start on Sunday, after a massive accident on top of the mountain. Drivers Paul Weel, and Chris Pither are believed to be okay.

Look At Them, You’ve Made Their Day!

Stepping back in time once again, the late 1980’s were a tough time for Holden supporters in Australian touring car racing. From the moment Allan Grice won the 1986 James Hardie 1000 in a VK Commodore, a Holden did not lead a single race lap at the Bathurst until lap 32 of the 1990 race, […]

Farewell To Top Bombers

This Sunday, the Essendon Football Club will farewell two of the finest servants of the club – Jason Johnson, and the inspirational Adam Ramanauskas. Adam Ramanauskas Profile Ramanauskas joined the club in 1999, by way of selection 12 in the 1998 National Draft. On paper, 133 games doesn’t seem like a massive achievement, but after […]

It’s A New Car

No, not an advertisement for The Price is Right, but in what people are already talking about as 2008 AFL Mark Of The Year, Essendon captain Matthew Lloyd took a huge one against Melbourne on the weekend. Gotta love Tony Shaw – (vomit!) – calling it “That’s A Car” – in reference to the prize […]

Satisfaction!

There is nothing better in football for an Essendon fan to beat Carlton or Collingwood. In recent weeks, Essendon has done both of those things. Knights Savours Most Satisfying Win Essendon struggled in the early part of the season. A new coach and new game plan still settling in with the players. Now, with some […]

Super Matt Returns To V8 Supercars

V8 Supercar fans will remember Matt Neal – the man who severely damaged a Paul Morris Motorsport Commodore during it’s shakedown appearance in 2001, and even more memorably, overtook some front running cars at Bathurst in 2000, while being lapped. Here’s a look back at that incident, which is again causing shudders amongst the fans, […]

Todd Kelly Confirmed At JDR

In a release from Jack Daniel’s, one of the worst kept secrets in V8 Supercars has now been confirmed. “It is with excitement and delight that we are announcing a significant development for the 2008 Jack Daniel’s Racing Team. We are very pleased to release to press today that leading Holden driver Todd Kelly has […]

One Last Memory

Essendon champion James Hird retired from the AFL last weekend. Hoping for a fairytale win as a send off, things didn’t look good at three-quarter time when the Bombers were down to the Eagles by 50 points. At the huddle, Hird pleaded to the players for “one last memory” before he retired. The players, and […]

Beating The Old Enemy

There is almost nothing more important for an Essendon fan, than for the Bombers to beat Carlton at every possible opportunity. After losing to the Blues in dramatic circumstances earlier in the season, the Bombers were out to make sure the same did not happen again – and so it eventuated – with Essendon running […]

Larrikin Larry Wins Bathurst

Another one from the archives, with Australian racing legend Larry Perkins winning the 1993 Tooheys 1000, along with the late, Gregg Hansford. As a Perkins fan, it was a great weekend for me – the #11 Castrol Commodore was the fastest car in almost every practice and qualifying session, took pole position in the shootout, […]
