Slash Goes Crazy

One from the archives here, Round 14, 2001. Essendon met the Western Bulldogs in an away game at the then Colonial Stadium, now Telstra Dome. More accurately, in the second quarter, the Western Bulldogs met Gary Moorcroft.

I was there that night, unfortunately at the other end of the ground, but was proud to be there to see “Slash” take the Doggies apart.

Five goals in the quarter, and a complete domination of every opponent put on him.

For most people, the best part was the mark that has become known as probably the best mark in the history of the game, certainly in the television era. For me, an even better part was that he was standing on Brad Johnson’s back to take it. Great night!
