The G9 Consortium has fired it’s next salvo in the war of words with Telstra over the continuing debate over high-speed broadband in Australia.
After Optus and Elders secured almost $1Bill(AUD) from the Australian government to build a WiMAX network in regional areas, the G9, led by Optus, is now making it’s play for the metropolitan market.
“G9 CEOs have met to consider the government’s announcement and we were unanimous in our view that the G9 should proceed to prepare a bid to build such a network,” said Michael Malone, chief executive of iiNet.
Needless to say, there is going to be a lot more to-and-fro, and “media release battles”, before this all sorts out. But for the sake of Australian internet users – please let it be soon!
Now, I’m a huge fan of Monty Python, and I love watching Doctor Who, as I have since I was a kid.
It is, however, fair to say, that I have never seen them combined into one. Well, it’s been done, and with hilarious results.
One from the archives here, Round 14, 2001. Essendon met the Western Bulldogs in an away game at the then Colonial Stadium, now Telstra Dome. More accurately, in the second quarter, the Western Bulldogs met Gary Moorcroft.
I was there that night, unfortunately at the other end of the ground, but was proud to be there to see “Slash” take the Doggies apart.
Five goals in the quarter, and a complete domination of every opponent put on him.
For most people, the best part was the mark that has become known as probably the best mark in the history of the game, certainly in the television era. For me, an even better part was that he was standing on Brad Johnson’s back to take it. Great night!
After months of hype and expectation, the Apple iPhone is released in the United States, tomorrow morning, Australian time.
While it is at least 12 months away from hitting Australian shores (or even longer), the technology is certainly interesting, and changes the mobile phone paradigm dramatically.
While I love what the iPhone offers, I won’t be moving away from my iMate JASJAM any time soon – the iPhone just doesn’t offer that much more – but for anyone looking to upgrade their phone from some old clunker, the iPhone should be hard to walk past.
Sure, it’s funny that a place like the Pentagon could and would have it’s email systems hacked, but lets be honest, email systems aren’t that difficult to abuse.
We all get spam – it’s a fact of life on the internet – but some “thoughtful” network design can avoid spam, and attacks on sensitive email servers.
I’ve recently built an email solution where the mail services – SMTP, POP3, IMAP, etc – are not even visible to the internet – and therefore provides no attack surface for any hacking attempt.
The best part is, it’s not rocket science…
I don’t know if they would really understand in ancient China, but the true nature of The Great Wall of China can finally be revealed.
As revealed in the recent Telstra Bigpond campaign, The Great Wall of China was built by the emperor “Nasi Goreng”, to keep the rabbits out of China.
And as these people discovered on a trip to China, the proof exists – cause there are a lot of rabbits in China. We think…
